Analyze and Compare is a feature that can be used to view proposed changes before reassigning in Territory Planning. This feature allows users to compare different scenarios of territory alignment and see the impact of their changes on key metrics such as annual revenue, unit count, and workload balance. This feature can help users make informed decisions and optimize their territories for sales and service performance. This feat ure is explained in the  Create an Optimal Territory Alignment  document.

A user can plot a Live Layer in Maps for three main purposes. One is to dispatch the ne arest driver to a service call, which can help optimize routing and scheduling. Another is to validate a driver’s location in the event of an emergency, which can help ensure safety and security. A third is to see any occurrences of speeding events for a g iven Live Asset, which can help monitor performance and compliance. These purposes are explained in the  Create Live Layers  docu ment.

According to the Salesforce Maps Configuration module on Trailhead 1 , to create multiple visit windows for different types of visits, y ou need to create two lookup fields on the Account object to the Visit Window object. This way, you can assign different visit windows to different routable records.

there are three configurations that each user assigned to a Maps Advanced Visit Plan must complete before routes can be generated.  One is to indicate working hours 4 .  Another is to set the start and end locations 4 .  The third is to indicate working days

The Admin should enable “Allow Route/Schedule Sharing” to ensure all Maps Users can see each other’s Routes and Schedules. This s etting allows users to share their Routes and Schedules with other users in their org, and also view the Routes and Schedules of other users who have shared them. This setting can be found in the Routes and Schedule settings within Maps Configuration. This is explained in the  Routes and Schedule Settings in Maps  document.

According to the Salesforce Help article on Understand and Troubleshoot Unit Assignment in Salesforce Maps Territory Planning 5 , two steps that a consultant can take to troubleshoot the issue of no units assigned to areas are: edit the data set, and see what field was used for Unit Assignme nt, and create a new alignment, and use the correct matching logic for this field; and edit the data set, and what report and/or queries were used to create it, and double check that the reports and/or queries return records when logged in as the OAuth user 5 .  These steps will help ensure that the data set has valid unit assignment values and that there are no issues with data access or per missions 5 .

A communication plan is a best practice for any Salesforce implementation project, as it helps to inform and engage the stakeholders, users, and sponsors throughout the project lifecycle.  A communication plan can include the project goals, benefits, timeline, milestones, roles and responsibilities, training and support resources, feedback mechanisms, and success metrics 1 .  A communication plan can also help to address any potential resistance or challenges from the users or sponsors, and ensure a smooth adoption of the new solution 2 .  Reference s :

According to the Sa lesforce Help article on Configure Options for Publishing Alignments 1 , one of the possible causes of some publish options being greyed out and inactive is that the user does not have the correct permission to publish.  The admin can c onfigure the access level and approval requirement for each publish option in the Salesforce Maps package settings 1 .  If the user is not assigned to a permission group or profile that has the access level to publish, they will not be able to use that option 1 .

According to the Salesforce Help article on Sharing and Collaboration in Salesforce Maps Territory Planning 6 , one of the ways to share an al ignment with stakeholders is to click the share button from the Browser, alignment header, or map legend.  This will open a dialog box that allows users to share a n alignment as a PDF file via email or download it locally 6 .  The PDF file contains information such as alignment name, description, date range, dataset name, number of areas and units, unit assignment summary, unit distribution summary, map view, and area list

According to the Salesforce Help document  1 , to enable task creation on mobile devices, the admin needs to update the assigned b utton set to include the “New Task” button. This will allow the sales reps to log a task on an account within the map view from their mobile device.
