The DPE on 480/F, 680/F, and 880/F systems is internally connected to Bus 99 which is a separate bus than the first SAS expansion port that is connected to Bus 0. Therefore, the DPE is recognized by the system as Bus 99 Enclosure 0 while the first DAE connected to the first SAS expansion port would be Bus 0 Enclosure 0. This is different than X00/F, X50F, and 380/F systems. Furthermore, this means that the twenty-five drives in front of the DPE for 480/F, 680/F, and 880/F systems are internally recognized as Bus 99 Enclosure 0 Drive 0 – Bus 99 Enclosure 0 Drive 24. In Unisphere, the drives are seen DPE Drive 0 –DPE Drive 24

Unisphere Central is the recommended software tool for the customer as it allows for the monitoring and reporting of multiple Dell Unity and Dell PowerStore arrays through a single interface. It provides a unified management experience and allows for efficient monitoring and troubleshooting of the storage environment.

(Input/Output Operations Per Second) is a key consideration when sizing a Dell EMC SC Series system for capacity. IOPS is a measure of the performance of a storage system, and a higher number of IOPS generally indicates better performance. Other factors to consider would be the number of disk drives, RAID configuration, and storage capacity required for the specific use case.

The Dell PowerStore appliance provides two methods to migrate storage resources within the same cluster: Assisted Migration and Volume Motion.

Assisted Migration: This method allows the administrator to manually initiate and control the migration process, and it allows for the migration of individual resources such as LUNs, file systems and snapshots.

Volume Motion: This method allows the administrator to move a LUN or file system from one storage pool to another on the same PowerStore appliance or within the same cluster. This is done without any disruption to the hosts accessing the data and it can be automated with the use of policies.

It's important to note that the Live Migrate and Migrate options are not available to migrate storage resources within the same cluster in Dell PowerStore.

Dell is providing native support of NVMe to the midrange of the market, which improves performance.
