Adaptive QoS is a feature that automatically adjusts the QoS throughput ceiling or floor based on the volume size, either used or allocated. The QoS throughput ceiling is the maximum number of IOPS or MB/s that a volume can consume. Therefore, any change that affects the volume size, such as adding data to the volume or resizing the volume, would affect the QoS throughput ceiling. When a LUN has space reservations disabled (a non-space-reserved LUN), and its containing volume has no space guarantee, ONTAP reports the volume usage based on the actual data written to the LUN, not the LUN size.  According to the NetApp best practices, flow control should be disabled on data network ports and cluster network ports using 10GbE Ethernet. This is because flow control can cause excessive pause frames, xon/xoff frames, or packets being re-queued, which can affect the network performance and TCP throughput. Flow control works at the physical link layer and does not consider the upper level protocols. To deploy an SVM to serve SMB data, you must have sufficient space for the root volume, a non-root aggregate in the online state, and synchronize the cluster time.  The root volume is the volume that contains the SVM configuration and metadata, and it must have enough space to accommodate the SVM growth 1 .  The non-root aggregate is the aggregate that contains the data volumes that you will create and share using SMB 2 .  The cluster time is the time that is synchronized across all nodes in the cluster, and it must be consistent with the Active Directory domain time to avoid authentication failures 3 .  You can use either XCP or the in-place conversion feature to move data from a FlexVol volume to a FlexGroup volume. XCP is a data migration tool that can copy data between different types of volumes, such as FlexVol and FlexGroup. The in-place conversion feature, introduced in ONTAP 9.7, allows you to convert a FlexVol volume to a FlexGroup volume without requiring a data copy or additional disk space. However, you cannot convert a FlexGroup volume back to a FlexVol volume. SnapMirror is not a valid option for this scenario, because it does not support replicating data from FlexVol to FlexGroup volumes.
